Remove User from Mail/Email Lists Option

You can give users the ability to opt out of your mailing list-AND-if you use the Email module to send mass emails, you can also allow them to opt out of the email list.  

To enable this option:

  1. Obtain a copy of the OptOut.htm template from your ACEware Systems technician and place it in your Templates folder (i.e. wconnect/ace).  
  2. Edit the OptOut.htm template text messages and verification fields, if necessary. The default template has the opt out of Email and Mailing list options and the Email Address verification field. You may use other verification fields, if desired. The available fields are:

    Email Address:  txtEmail
    Student ID:  txtID
    Password:  txtPassword
    Initials:  txtInits
    Zip Code:  txtZip

  1. Put the link in the appropriate places, i.e. into your email templates*, or on your website (where domain is your web server URL):

http://domain/OptOut.awp

 

*If you are using the Remove Me option in your MergeMail templates , you can add the Email or ID option to the link which will automatically enter the user's Email Address or ID into the appropriate field when they visit the page:

Email Address:  http://domain/OptOut.awp?&edress=nmemail

ID:  http://domain/OptOut.awp?&id=nmid

 

Example expression for MergMail template:

"<a href='http://domain/optout.awp?edress="+nmemail+"'>Unsubscribe</a> from this email list."
